The seed banks in Uganda are rich in diversity of common beans based on their various geographical locations country wide and other factors.
Kaki Short
Locally known by the name NABE 13. It is described as modern(improved) bush type with medium sized red seeds.It has a low resistance to aphids, birds and yellowing but moderately resistant to rats.It is prevalent in the areas of Kabale.
Kakulungu
Locally identified by the name NABE 14. It is described as a modern(improved) bush type, with big sized red seeds.It has a low resistance to aphids, birds and yellowing but moderately resistant to rats.It can commonly be found in the Kabale sub-region
Kankuryembarukye
Locally known by the name Kanyobwa short, It is described as a Local, bush type, red in colour with medium size seeds, pink flowers, matures early and takes a short time to cook.It is moderately resistant to aphids, root rot, Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV) and moderately eaten by rats but resistant to wiltingThis variety can commonly be found in the areas of Nakaseke, Bushenyi and Kabale.
Kankuryembarukye Purple
Locally known by the name Kanyobwa long. It is described as a local bush type, red big seeds with pink flowers and matures early. Takes a short time to cook.It is moderately resistant to aphids, root rot, Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV) and moderately eaten by rats but resistant to wilting.This variety can commonly be found in the areas of Nakaseke, Bushenyi and Kabale.
Kankuryembarukye Army Green
Locally known by the name Kasirira. It is described as aLocal, bush type with small black beans. It is resistant to rats and moderately affected by small black ants. This variety can commonly be found in the areas of Nakaseke.
Karolina
Locally identified by the name Katosire.It is described as a local brown, small sized bush type.It is moderately resistant to aphids, root rot and small black ants.It can commonly be found in Bushenyi.

Locally known by the name Kigome. It is described as modern, climbing late maturing type. Purple white spotted medium sized seeds easy to cook. White and purple flowers.It is resistant to caterpillars, moderately affected by aphids, rats and birds.It is prevalent in the areas of Kabale.
Kihura
Locally known by the name Kihura. It is described as local, climbing type, purple big seeds and matures early.It is affected by caterpillars and prone to yellowing.It is prevalent in the areas of Kabale.
Kishoga
Locally known by the name Kishoga. It is described as local, climbing type and small light yellow seeds of early maturity.It is moderately resistant to aphids, root rot and BCMV.It is prevalent in the areas of Bushenyi.
Mahega Long
Locally known by the name Mahega Long. It is described as local, bush type, red big early maturing variety and easy to cook.It is moderately resistant to aphids but low resistance to root rot.It is prevalent in the areas of Bushenyi.

Locally known by the name Mahega M. It is described as a modern, bush type with white flowers and easy to cook.It is moderately resistant to root rot and BCMV but low resistance to aphids and bean weevils.It is prevalent in the areas of Bushenyi and Kabale

Locally known by the name Mamesha Climber. It is described as local, climbing type, yellow in colour and matures early. It is moderately resistant to aphids, rats and birds but prone to yellowing and wilting.It is prevalent in the areas of Kabale.
Manyigamulimi
Locally identified by the name Manyigamulimi. It is described as a local, bush bean, big red seeds. It is moderately resistant to aphids, caterpillars, rats, birds, wilting and yellowing. It can commonly be found in Nakaseke.
Mexic 54
Locally identified by the name Mexic 54.It is described as a modern (improved) and climbing type. It is susceptible to Anthracnose and angular leaf spot. It can commonly be found at the Research station(Namulonge).
Nakawunde
Locally identified by the name Nakawunde. It is described as a local bush type with big black and white spotted seeds. It is moderately resistant to small black ants.It can commonly be found in Nakaseke.
Nakyewogola
Locally identified by the name Nakyewogola. It is described as a local brown bush type with big sized seeds. It is moderately resistant to bean fly, aphids, wilting and anthracnose. It can commonly be found in Nakaseke.
Ngwinorale
Locally known by the name Ngwinorale. It is described as modern, climbing type with white flowers, red medium sized seeds and takes a short time to cook.It has a high resistance to aphids, moderately affected by caterpillars and low resistance to rats and birds. It is prevalent in the areas of Kabale.

It can commonly be found in the Bushenyi.

Locally identified by the name Shemererwa.It is described as a local medium sized climbing type. It is resistant to aphids, wilting and yellowing and moderately resistant to caterpillars. It can commonly be found in the Kabale sub-region

It is described as a modern climbing type of late maturity, small sized seed with white flowers, white with black spots and takes long to cook.It is moderately resistant to aphids, caterpillars, rats, birds, wilting and yellowing.
