Nawandala Integrated Farmers Co-operative
Nawandala Integrated Farmers Co-operative Seed Bank is a legally registered entity established in 2013 with 40 members of
which 23 are female and 17 are male famers from two groups namely,
St Gonzaga and Edikolyoka groups.
The seed bank is located in Eastern Uganda, Iganga District, Nawanda Sub-county, Bugongo Parish,
Mulanga Village.
The crop species currently conserved at Iganga Community seedbank include common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), groundnuts (Arachis hypogaea), Finger millet (Panicum miliaceum), maize (Zea mays), Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), mung bean (Vigna radiata), soybean (Glycine max), sesame (Sesamum indicum), rumpkin (Maxima cucurbita), yam (Dioscorea spp.), desmodium (Desmodium spp.) and several leafy vegetables
The seed bank receives support from Eastern Archdiocesan Development Network (AEDEN) and PELUM (U).
